Just a digital marketing professional doing stuff

My name is Nkenge and I'm a digital marketing professional living and working in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

I was born in Grenada and grew up in Barbados. In 2008 I moved to Baltimore, Maryland for college. During that time I launched a blog, The Natural Mane, to celebrate and chronicle my natural hair journey. That blog jump started my love for digital marketing because I needed it to help me cost effectively promote my blog. Eventually I reached the point where I couldn't juggle running the blog and working two jobs, an internship, running a student volunteer group and studying for the GRE exams for graduate school, so I stopped blogging but the itch to blog remained.

After college I moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin for graduate school at Marquette. I spent that time in graduate school interning with Visit Milwaukee as an online marketing intern and building up my digital marketing skills on various projects with my brother back home in Barbados. There was some dating, lots of dating. I bought a bicycle and cycled everywhere through sunshine, rain, sleet and snow. I took in more than a few awesome festivals. OMG Summerfest was a trip.

Then I graduated and things got real, that summer I started experiencing The Pain. Little did I know it would become chronic. That fall I got my first job as the website and social media specialist for a great nonprofit. Two years later I moved on to a new gig as the senior social media manager for a national recipe magazine. By this point my pain was chronic and was having a huge impact on my self esteem.

So in the spring of 2019, I launched a new blog, Just NK, to chronicle my journey with chronic pain, life as a young professional, newlywed and love for thrift shopping. This blog is a celebration of everything that makes my life worth living while dealing with chronic pain. Because writing is expression and expression is cathartic and catharsis keeps you going...

P.S. Hopefully, you can find some inspiration in the topics of the blog. I'd love to get to know more about you and what keeps you going.
